Located just outside of the Maasai Mara National Reserve on private land which avoids park entry and community fees. When going on game drive, we have direct access to the quiet Zebra Barrier gate into the reserve.
Our property is located on a ridge overlooking the Maasai Mara National Reserve and Oloololo Escarpment. Our accommodations are positioned towards the setting sun allowing for magical sunsets.
Most of our team comes from nearby Maasai communities and one of our owners is a Maasai woman. By staying with us you directly support local livelihoods and community driven conservation.
Kobe Mara is not just a place for safari, we offer tailor-made experiences that suit every type of traveler. Whether it is a cultural visit to the Maasai or an adventurous hot air balloon ride. Finish your day with the best food and beverages from our private chef Julius and Stephen.
We are easy to reach by both air and road. Domestic flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport take about forty five minutes to the nearby airstrips in the Mara. Travelling by road takes around five to six hours depending on the route and road conditions. You can find us clearly marked on Google Maps for effortless navigation.
Posted on Google Iris We stayed here for two nights during our safari in Kenya, and out of the three camps/hotels we stayed at, this one was by far our favourite. The experience was just incredible. Of course, the setting is amazing: waking up in a beautiful tent overlooking the Mara, and having breakfast, lunch or dinner with wildlife literally all around you is something we will never forget. But what really made this place special was the team: Joshua, Sammy, David and Rafael were all absolutely lovely. They were so attentive, thoughtful and genuinely caring, without ever making it feel too formal or forced. We felt really looked after throughout our stay. We also loved being able to chat with them and learn more about their lives and Maasai culture. It made the experience feel much more personal. And the food… honestly, incredible. Everything we ate was delicious, and the picnic during our game drive was such a highlight: zero-waste, beautifully prepared and just so good! After six days of safari, this was the place where we really felt immersed in the experience. It’s hard to explain, but there was something really special about being there, surrounded by the Mara, the animals, and such a lovely team. We genuinely feel so lucky to have stayed here and will remember this experience for a very long time. A huge thank you to the whole team, and especially Joshua, Sammy, David and Rafael, for making our stay so special. You all contributed so much to what was an unforgettable few days. ❤️Posted on Google Sergio Rosales Calderon We had a fantastic stay at Kobe Mara. The staff were incredibly attentive, welcoming, and always ready to help. The safari guides they arranged for us were excellent—professional, knowledgeable, and truly made our safari experience unforgettable. The food was very good, the rooms and the entire property were beautiful and comfortable, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. We had an amazing time and could not have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!Posted on Google Irene Jimenez Jimenez We stayed at Kobe Mara as part of our honeymoon, which had been organized through a travel agency, and it was by far the first—and the best—accommodation of our entire trip to Kenya. Kobe Mara is a small and truly special place. Its location, right on the edge of the Maasai Mara, makes it a unique experience. We were lucky enough to have breakfast while watching zebras and giraffes nearby—something we’ll never forget. What really makes this place exceptional, though, is the team. Everyone made us feel so welcome with their warmth and genuine hospitality. After three nights, it honestly felt like home. A very special mention goes to the chef—the food was absolutely incredible and some of the best we had during our stay in Kenya. Thank you for making our honeymoon so memorable. If we ever return to Kenya, we’ll definitely stay at Kobe Mara again!Posted on Google Nikol First of all, we would like to say a huge thank you to Faith, who handled our booking and all communication. She made planning our trip so much easier and was always incredibly helpful. She even warned me just in time about fake flight tickets I was about to buy, and I’m truly grateful for her advice. 🙏🏻 Kobe House is a small and intimate camp with just four safari tents, and luxury rooms in the house located right inside the reserve. The tents are simple but very comfortable, and the beds were excellent, allowing us to sleep really well. The camp is not fenced, which surprised us at first. You even sign a waiver acknowledging the risks of staying in the wilderness. However, after a short time, we realized that this is exactly what makes the experience so special. But it can be quite scary at the first. There is a waterhole right next to the camp, where zebras, giraffes, and buffalo regularly come to drink. Watching wild animals just a few meters from our tent & restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The entire team was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. One evening, dinner was served privately next to our tent, making the experience even more memorable. The food was very tasty, and we enjoyed every meal. They offer even a soft drink to the meals (like CocaCola, Fanta,juice..) 🥗🍗🥤 We also booked our safari guide and airport transfer through Kobe House, and everything was perfectly organized. Our guide, Dan, was fantastic. He worked incredibly hard to find all the animals we hoped to see and made our very first safari an unforgettable experience. 🦁🦒🐘🦓🐗🦛🐊 There are only two small things that could be improved. The first is that the bathroom waste had an unpleasant smell. The second is the 3.8% online payment fee. The camp does not accept card payments via a payment terminal, so if you choose to pay online, an additional 3.8% fee applies. If possible, paying by bank transfer in advance. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. If you’re looking for an authentic safari experience with wonderful people, outstanding hospitality, and wildlife literally on your doorstep, we highly recommend Kobe House. 💯⭐️Posted on Google Darren Cuthbert Our experience at Kobe exceeded all of our expectations from start to end. Staff was beyond accommodating and friendly. Incredible customer service - super responsive through email and whatsapp. The land is clean, immaculate, and perfectly located to the park. Our mind was blown with the safari experience - nonstop action and knowledge with our guide Neboo. Food was actually delicious. Great drinks available. On our first night, we were already booking our trip for next year. This place is a hidden gem.Posted on Google Elliot Vernon An incredible place, Maasai owned and staffed, in the best location, and much better rates relative to other camps. We stayed in Kobe Mara’s tent accommodation for four nights. The tent was luxurious and secluded. We had personal staff for meals, assistance, and security watch. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served at our tent, and the food exceeded our expectations. Kobe is Maasai-owned and only hires Maasai people. This allowed us to learn a lot about the Maasai culture and hear amazing stories from the staff. We were also very happy that the income from our stay was going back into the Maasai community. The safari was incredible. Kobe is positioned two minutes from one of the national park gates. We had a private safari jeep and guide that was offered at a rate far better than other camps we researched. Dan, our guide, knew the name of every single species in the park, from the large mammals to the small birds and fish. He always put us in the perfect position to be front row for sightings. We saw so many lions, a lion hunt, several cheetah and leopards, and lots of other animals. Dan was full of energy and joy, and clearly loves his job, which made it that much better. If we were to do Maasai Mara again, we wouldn’t do it any other way! Thank you, Kobe Mara.Posted on Google Henry Prince We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon and it was amazing. You are literally right on the Masai Mara and can hear hyenas and animals throughout the night. The staff were incredible and on our last night they made us a cake and did a special Masai dance and song to celebrate our honeymoon! Highly recommendPosted on Google Ruhul Amin We stayed at Kobe Mara for four nights and had one of the most magical family holidays we’ve ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. We spent three full days on safari, heading out before sunrise and returning again for lunch and then setting out again late afternoon/evening game drives. The wildlife sightings were simply incredible. Thanks to our outstanding guide, Dan, we saw all of the big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. We witnessed lion hunts, cheetah kills, leopard kills, and even the extremely rare sight of a mating leopard pair. Dan’s knowledge of the Mara, patience, and ability to position us in exactly the right places made all the difference. Dan’s enthusiasm for spotting animals was infectious… he was equally excited to see them as we were. We were travelling as a family of five with children aged 4, 6, and 9. Dan was fantastic with the kids, keeping them engaged and entertained throughout the long game drives while sharing his passion and knowledge of the wildlife. One of the highlights each day was our picnic breakfast in the bush. The team prepared a wonderful spread with fresh food, coffee, and tea, all enjoyed in breathtaking locations. Some mornings we ate while watching giraffes, other days we were beside hippos and crocodiles along the river. These are memories we will treasure forever. We stayed in the large house (Kobe House), which was absolutely stunning. The accommodation was spacious, beautifully maintained, and perfect for families. Each bedroom was comfortable, generously sized, and had its own ensuite bathroom. Hot water was readily available and the internet was fast! The hospitality was exceptional throughout our stay. Joshua, the manager, was incredibly welcoming and kind. He spent time with our children, shared stories about Maasai culture, and even organised a surprise Maasai dance performance that the whole family loved. The food was also outstanding. Having a private chef prepare fresh breakfasts, lunches, and dinners every day made the experience feel truly special. Kobe Mara combines spectacular wildlife, beautiful accommodation, wonderful food, and genuinely warm hospitality. We cannot recommend it highly enough, and we hope to return one day.Posted on Google Kate Williams Exceptional from start to finish. The hotel arranged our transfer from Nairobi to the lodge and the return which were punctual and with friendly drivers. The accommodation was incredible, staff were welcoming and attentive and all food was included (and very tasty, even tailoring to dietary requests) meaning we didn’t have to think about a single thing other than enjoying our time there. The hotel arranged our game trips with Nixon who was a great guide and, being from the Masai, was very knowledge in the area. Would recommend to anyone looking for an intimate and tailored trip to the Masai.Posted on Google Doug McDaniel My wife and I had an amazing time at Kobe Mara. We stayed for 3 days and everything was great from start to finish. Dan was our safari guide and he was awesome—super knowledgeable and easygoing, and he really made the experience special for us. The staff took great care of us the whole time, and the food was honestly a highlight—every meal was different and really good. Eating with views of the Mara while giraffes and zebras walked by was unreal. Definitely recommend Kobe Mara if you’re planning a safari. Would 100% go back.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
