What

to expect

Guests at Kobe Mara can take part in a beading workshop hosted at the nearby Maa Trust, a non-profit organisation empowering local Maasai communities through initiatives such as Maa Beadwork and Maa Honey.

The experience includes an introduction to Maa Trust’s community programmes, a guided tour of the workshops, and the opportunity to meet the artisans—including women skilled in traditional beadwork and leather workers. Guests of all ages are welcome to join a hands-on beading session alongside the women artisans and keep the piece they create as a personal memento.

Time is also available to visit the Maa Trust gift shop, where handcrafted items can be purchased to directly support the artisans and their communities. For those interested in conservation, the visit can be extended to include CERK (Centre for Ecosystem Restoration Kenya), with tours of the indigenous tree nursery, native plant gardens, and educational demonstrations.

This experience offers a thoughtful connection to local culture, craftsmanship, and community-led conservation during a stay at Kobe Mara.
